England ahead over Senegal at halftime

In Sunday’s World Cup round of 16 match against Senegal, England midfielder Jordan Henderson and captain Harry Kane each scored just before halftime to give their team a 2-0 lead.

After a slow start, England’s first dangerous attack resulted in a goal by Henderson in the 38th minute. Striker Kane was at the top of his game to add a second goal with the last kick of the half.

Speedy After England’s defense carelessly gave the ball away just past the half-hour mark, Senegal striker Boulaye Dia, who looked dangerous on the break, came closest for the African team when he brought out a sharp one-handed save from Jordan Pickford.

The two teams are competing to earn a matchup against the defending champions France, who defeated Poland 3-1 earlier on Sunday.
