Pastor Giwa tells Peter Obi that he cannot become president with only Christian votes.

Pastor Adewale Giwa has urged Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate Peter Obi to stop visiting churches across the country for alleged political reasons.

He serves as the Senior Pastor of the Awaiting The Second Coming Of Christ Ministry in Akure, the state capital of Ondo.

According to the cleric, the Christian community will not be enough to propel Obi to victory in the upcoming presidential election in 2023.

Giwa stated this to members of his congregation on the State of the Nation on Sunday. He also cautioned politicians against acts that could exacerbate the religious crisis.

According to the clergyman, the former governor of Anambra state has the potential to be president, but there is no chance of that happening.

Giwa advised him to focus his future ambitions on building relationships across religions and ethnicities.

He said: “Stop playing to the gallery and do what is right in the eyes of God. Why do you think the church alone can give you [Obi] the votes you expect? No sir.

Don’t try to exacerbate ethnic and religious conflicts; we still haven’t resolved the current one. Muslim and Christian brothers and sisters had previously coexisted peacefully, until politicians intervened to divide them.

“You come from a minority ethnic group, you need to love all and carry everyone along. You have the potential to become a president of Nigeria someday or in years to come, but not now.

Start working towards it and build your resume; You need a lot of work to do, too, by building your party from the units to the wards, local governments, and states before the federal government. If it takes you ten years to do so, please, do.”

Meanwhile, Peter Obi raised eyebrows a few days ago when he attended Shiloh’s annual Living Faith Church program.
