Young African Lady graduates from New York University as a Lawyer, makes mother proud as the only child

Jemie Fodia Fofanah, a talented 27-year-old woman from Sierra Leone, graduated from the New York University Law School after being generously funded by her parents.

Naasu Genevieve Fofanah, Jemie’s mother, expressed her joy at learning that her daughter had passed the DC Bar exam and been admitted to practice law in the United States.

Using her social media accounts, Naasu Genevieve expressed her joy at seeing her daughter triumph, writing: “Last evening my daughter called and said: “Mummy, I passed the DC Bar” Maybe one day she will describe my reactions because I am unable to do so!
I’m still caught in a wave of happiness and pride.

She added that during her time at the current age of her daughter, she had already become a mother and had just a high school certificate from SierraLeone. ” At your age, I was already your mother with just a high school certificate from SierraLeone. You have worked so hard and today, you’re an Attorney in the US! Go and serve humanity my daughter,” she wrote.

Jemie Fodia Fofanah, who has a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, was a Filomen D’Agostino Scholar and a Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Fellow at the New York University Law School.
