Tite says Sandro might not play in the quarterfinal against Croatia.

Alex Sandro, the starting left back for Brazil, has not fully recovered from his injury and is questionable for their quarterfinal matchup against Croatia on Friday, according to manager Tite.

With a muscle issue in his left hip, Alex Sandro was replaced in the 86th minute of Brazil’s second World Cup Group G match against Switzerland.

He was ruled out of their match against Cameroon in the final group stage and their match against South Korea in the round of 16, and according to Tite, he may miss his third straight game on Friday even if he performs well in training on Thursday.

“All indications are towards (Alex Sandro) not participating (in the match against Croatia),” Tite told a news conference.

“He has a different injury (than the ankle injury Neymar and Danilo suffered). He still needs to push a little harder, I have to see with the medical and physical department. It will depend on this afternoon.”

Forward Since coach Tite rotated his lineup to keep his star players fresh, Neymar and defender Danilo missed Brazil’s 1-0 triumph over the Swiss and 1-0 loss to Cameroon due to ankle ailments they sustained in the team’s opening 2-0 victory over Serbia.

Tite claims that the pair, who were fit to play and started in Brazil’s 4-1 rout of South Korea on Monday, are now fully recovered.

In the event that Alex Sandro is unable to participate, Danilo should once again start on the left side of the defense for Brazil since Alex Telles has been ruled out of the World Cup due to a knee injury sustained against Cameroon.

“I hope (Alex Sandro) can train well and be available,” Danilo told a news conference. “I’m healthy and I’m comfortable playing in all three defensive positions. I believe that I’ll make the transition soon to centre back because I feel very comfortable playing there at Juventus.”

Eder Militao, the center back who played against South Korea and Switzerland in place of Danilo in the right back position, is most likely to remain in the lineup until Alex Sandro returns.
