Nigeria: “To all young girls, this one is for you,” Teni says after being dragged by Nigerians for ‘disrespecting President Buhari.’

Teniola Apata, a popular highlife singer, has expressed her feelings about receiving national honors for her contributions to the music industry.

Teni attended the award ceremony on Tuesday, October 11 to be decorated with her national honor; a member of the order of Niger, by President Buhari himself. Teni, TuBaba, and Burna Boy were nominated for national awards alongside 437 others.

Teni’s detractors claimed that she was disrespectful to Nigeria’s President by not shaking his hand.

Teni, who couldn’t wait for a handshake after receiving the award from the President, walked majestically back to her seat, which irritated some Nigerians.

Teni The Entertainer responded to all the commotion by posting a video of herself storming the award ceremony on her Instagram page with the caption:

“WITH HONOUR AND GRATITUDE TO GOD, IT WAS INDEED A JOYOUS MOMENT TO RECEIVE A NATIONAL HONOR YESTERDAY.
