Nigerian Afropop artist Oxlade has described his first encounter with David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, of the Afrobeats genre.

The performer claimed that Davido gave him an entire outfit from his collection of pricey clothing when they first met.

During a chat, Oxlade explained that he and Fireboy DML’s song release from years prior was the catalyst for their meeting.

He explained that when he first signed to YBNL Nation, he and Fireboy recorded and leaked a song because they thought the label would reject it.

Davido heard the song “Sing” after it was released and commented that he plays it repeatedly.

The singer for the Away song also posted on Twitter, asking, “Where has Oxlade been all my life?” Oxlade claimed that a friend woke him up while he was still asleep to tell him that Davido had tweeted about him.

He claimed that OBO invited him over, furnished him with an entire wardrobe’s worth of clothes, and took him out that same evening.

Oxlade claimed he also connected with Burna Boy and other notable figures that evening and realized it was his moment to shine.
