Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has promised to provide ‘logistics support’ for the presidential campaign of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Wike made the promise during the commissioning of the Mgbutanwo Internal Roads in the state’s Emohua Local Government Area.
The Rivers governor, who invited NNPP presidential candidate Kwankwaso, described him as a friend and a man of integrity.
Remember that Wike also promised to help Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi with campaign logistics when Obi commissioned a Rivers state project last week.
Similarly, the governor described Obi as a man who possessed all of the qualities required to lead Nigeria.
Wike stated that he was one of the few people who persuaded Kwankwaso, a former PDP member, not to leave the party because he recognized his value to the party, particularly in Kano State.
He said, “I remember when I went to meet you in your house in Abuja to plead with you not to leave the party (PDP) because I knew you were an asset to the party. Even when they told me to leave you alone, I refused.
“I have known you and I know you are a man of integrity so I want to say that whenever you want to campaign in Rivers State, I will provide you with all your logistics, just let me know when you want to come.”
Meanwhile, Wike has stated that more projects in the state will be commissioned soon.
He boasted that the road construction began in June 2021 and was completed four months later.
“We just commissioned the ninth flyover last week and we will commission the 10th before the end of the year. We will also commission the 11th and 12th flyover next year.
“I said I will turn turn Emuoha around, have i not done it? I brought the best construction company in Nigeria to construct this road,” he said.
Since May, the PDP has been rocked by a crisis, with Wike and the G5 governors demanding the resignation of the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
