17-year-old Nigerian boy invents remote-controlled robot, hopes to become an Engineer
Isah Auwal Barde, a clever 17-year-old Nigerian lad, created a remote-controlled robot out of trash that were once thought to be waste.
Isah Auwal Barde, who recently completed his secondary schooling, aspires to be a top engineer and an authority on artificial intelligence. Auwal started to develop himself by creating a robot as part of his effort to realize his dream.
The robot which he invented works with a robotic exoskeleton remote control, a system which controls the robot through the actions of the person operating it. βIt took me two years to invent the robot using local materials like DC motors, copper wires, pipes, corrugated cardboard as well as metal, among others, and the robot works with electricity,β Auwal Barde narrated to NAN.
He hopes to become a robotics Engineer so as to assist Nigeria in tackling security challenges. βI want to be a robotics engineer, so that I can be producing robots that can be used in addressing security challenges bedevilling the country,β he said
Despite the fact that Auwal was unable to recall what initially sparked his interest in robotics, his father, Malam Auwal Barde, recalled that his son had started bringing scraps into the home and making what he called “toys” with them when he was about 8 years old.
