I borrowed money from a bank to record a song with Davido – Singer, Spyro
Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, professionally known as Spyro, a budding singer and songwriter, has revealed that he obtained a bank loan to fund his song with Davido and Mayorkun.
The rising artiste collaborated with Omo Baba Olowo and Mayorkun on the single ‘Funke’ in 2018, but the song’s commercial success was short-lived.
Spyro recently told Cool FM that he struggled for three years to repay the loan.
The ‘Who’s Your Guy’ singer claimed that the collaboration catapulted him into the spotlight, but that he quickly faded after the song’s initial momentum.
Spyro said; “When I dropped ‘Funke’ and the song popped. I had David [Davido], I had Mayorkun on the song. And after dropping ‘Funke’ and my career still went down, I’m like, ‘Oh! Am I ever gonna rise again?’
“I popped but I just came down because there was no structure. There was nothing. I took a loan from the bank to finance that particular record while I was still signed to Upfront & Personal. When that period passed, I now had to start paying for the loan. That was really difficult because I paid for like three years.
