INEC rejects a social media candidate list for Edo’s legislative elections.

INEC said on Tuesday in Benin that it had yet to release or update a new list of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates running in Edo’s state and national assembly elections.

Remember that there were controversies following the release of various lists of candidates resulting from parallel primary elections held by the party in the state.

INEC had previously published the list of candidates for the state and National Assembly elections, but denied any further updates.

Mr Timidi Wariowei, Head of Voter Education and Publicity at the INEC office in Edo, stated that the office had yet to receive a new list from the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

He also stated that INEC has not released the list of candidates that is currently being circulated on social media.

“It is not true. We have not received any new list from INEC headquarters and if it is not on our INEC websites, that means it is not correct,’’ Wariowei told newsmen.
