Karim Benzema of France writes a touching message after suffering a painful injury on the eve of the World Cup.
The injury to Karim Benzema, which has ruled him out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, has struck a heavy blow to France and, to a lesser extent, the entire football landscape. Unquestionably, Benzema was on his way to Qatar as the finest pound-for-pound striker in the last 18 months, but his hopes have vanished due to injury.
Last month, the 34-year-old won the coveted Ballon d’Or award, capping off a stellar season in which he led Real Madrid to domestic and continental success, laced with a slew of goals.
Following the tragic news, Benzema took to Instagram to write an emotional message:
“In my life I never give up but tonight I have to think about the team like I always do so the reason tells me to leave my place to someone who can help our team to make a great World Cup. Thank you for all your messages of support.”
