Rivers 2023: Amaechi says the APC will combat poverty and hunger

PORT HARCOURT — When the All Progressives Congress, or APC, wins back control of Rivers State government in 2023, they’ll likely start by raising money to address the twin problem of perceived hunger and poverty in the state, according to the immediate past transportation minister, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi.

During the ongoing Rivers APC ward to ward sensitization campaign ahead of the 2018 elections, Ameachi spoke yesterday in Ward 19, Elekahia, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state.

The former governor of Rivers, who recently depicted Rivers under Governor Nyesom Wike as being in its worst state ever, seemed to be jabbing at his successor once more when he claimed that neither he nor traditional rulers were politicized during his tenure as governor.

“I built a primary school that people were coming to watch,” he said to the Elekahia gathering. I did not politicize health care when I declared it free in Rivers State. I never made fun of any Rivers man or chief. Arrogance and pride are two things that, if you’re a Christian, God detests.

“We are not here to campaign but to access our wards. They (political opponents) will try to intimidate you. The young men in your ward must not allow them to intimidate you. When will win, first thing will be to bring out money to address hunger and poverty.”
