APC campaign: Jos security tightened
Rwang Pam Township Stadium Jos, the site of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign kickoff, is heavily guarded.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stern-looking security personnel were stationed in strategic locations both inside and outside the stadium.
Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, General Officer Commanding 3rd Division of the Nigeria Army, was present at the stadium to assess the security arrangements.
Batholomew Onyeka, the Commissioner of Police for Plateau Command, was also present to assess the situation.
Aside from security, NAN reports that the road network to and around the stadium is being rehabilitated.
While some areas had potholes filled, others were completely resurfaced.
Mr Ahmed Wase, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), who was present at the stadium, stated that the committee would do everything possible to ensure a smooth event.
“I wish to commend the APC for its choice of Plateau for the launching of its presidential campaign.
“The choice of Jos which has a memorable history of hosting presidential campaigns and presidential primaries which produced presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is not a mistake.
“This time around we are very prepared to repeat that feat as we confidently march into the 2023 presidential and general elections,” he stated.(NAN)
