Brilliant Nigerian woman becomes first in family to receive a doctorate after earning PhD in petroleum and gas engineering
Dominica Una, a talented Nigerian woman who holds a doctorate in petroleum and gas engineering, has made history in her family.
Dominica Una’s accomplishment makes her the first person in her family to ever earn a PhD. At the University of Port Harcourt in South-South Nigeria, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum and Gas Engineering, she began her higher education.
At the same institution, she went on to complete her Master’s degree in before completing her academic career with a PhD.
Dominica Una, who posted about her success on LinkedIn, explained that it took a lot of sacrifice for her to achieve what she did. She added that having a teacher for a father and a trader for a mother while she was growing up had been beneficial to her.
“My father was a #teacher, and my mum was a trader. We had just enough because my mum was very industrious and had many side businesses to sustain a large family like ours,” she narrated.
