APC women launch their campaigns as Gov. Ayade defends Tinubu

In Calabar, Cross River State, the All Progressives Congress, APC women Presidential Campaign Council launched its campaign over the weekend with a commitment to ensure gender mainstreaming in Asiwaju Bola Tinubu‘s administration.

The First Lady, Dr. Aisha Buhari, who is also the grand patron of the women’s team, spoke at the event, which took place at the U.J. Esuene Sports Stadium. She noted that the party stands for peace and progress and urged the women to give their all to the campaign.

The First Lady was represented by Zahra Buhari Indimi, the First Lady’s daughter, according to Rinsola Abiola, head of media for the APC Women Presidential Campaign team.

The wife of the APC presidential candidate, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who also serves as the head of the women’s team, praised the virtues of South South women.

If their husbands are elected, she and her co-chairman, Hajia Nana Shettima, promised to make sure that women’s issues are given top priority. She also urged the women in the area to aid the APC in its campaign to take the next round of elections.

The wife of the governor of Cross River State, Dr. Linda Ayade, urged women and young people to vote APC because of how well the current administration has performed.

In his remarks, Governor Ben Ayade thanked the women for selecting Cross River as the South South region’s women’s campaign launch site and praised the APC presidential candidate’s leadership abilities.

“Our support for Asiwaju Tinubu is not because he is perfect. Our support for Asiwaju is because of his proven excellent track record as a people person who can consolidate on the gains of the present, drive inclusive growth, and lead our country to become more prosperous. The Tinubu/Shettima ticket is the most experienced and the most progressive combination available on the ballot”, he said.

Dr. Betta Edu, the National Women Leader of the APC and a native of Cross River, reassured the women of her commitment to defending women’s rights and urged them to cast a record number of votes for the APC presidential candidate.

When the delegation first arrived in Calabar, the Obong of Calabar, represented by the Prime Minister, was His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V.
