Actress Yara Shahidi, 22, receives a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and celebrates success.
American actress Yara Shahidi received a recommendation from Michelle Obama, the former first lady, and graduated from the prestigious Harvard University in Massachusetts, the United States.
The 22-year-old actress started her successful acting career at the age of 6, and since then, she has starred in a number of movies and television commercials for well-known companies like McDonald’s, Target, GapKids, Disney, and others.
She received a letter of recommendation from Michelle Obama, who was first lady of the United States at the time, for Harvard University in Massachusetts, where she received her degree in social studies and African American studies in 2017.
Despite having a great acting career, she had always desired to earn a university degree. She declared before enrolling in the institution that she would attend college regardless of what.
“I think no matter what, I know that I want to go to college. I know that I’m going to defer a year and I’m willing to have a more unorthodox college experience, but at a certain point I want to be on a campus.
“I don’t know what that means for me at this moment, but I know that the creator of the show supports me and everybody on the show again supports how adamant I am about my education,” Shahidi said in 2016.
