In Benin, presidential candidates will meet with movie stars.
The presidential candidates of the country’s major political parties are expected to have a quality interactive session with movie stars as the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, gathers in Benin, the Edo State capital, for its annual summit “Nollywood Actors Summit 2022.”
The three-day summit, themed,“Impact of Digital Technology on the Acting Profession” comes up at Benin’s Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub.
In an interview with NollyNow earlier this week, Mr. Emeka Rollas, National President of AGN, stated that the summit’s purpose is to educate their members on how to use digital technology to improve their crafts. It will also provide them with opportunities to develop and hone their acting skills, as well as connect with great filmmakers such as casting directors, producers, and film distributors.
He hinted that presidential candidates from various political parties, including the APC, PDP, Labour Party, NNPP, and SDP, have expressed an interest in attending the summit, which begins on Monday, November 21, and concludes on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
“We have reached out to the presidential candidates of the various political parties and they have indicated their interests to talk to the entertainment industry,” AGN boss added.
Rollas also stated that other Nollywood guilds and associations have been invited to participate in the historic summit. He scoffed at stakeholders who are currently campaigning against the use of Nollywood as an umbrella body for an AGN event, emphasizing that every guild in the industry has the right to use Nollywood as a trade name.” “If anybody is kicking against anything they should write to me,” he added.
