Midfielder from Morocco who is injured joins team for World Cup support

Amine Harit, a midfielder for Morocco, arrived in Qatar on Monday to be with the team for their semifinal match against France on Wednesday. Amine Harit was originally selected to play at the World Cup but suffered an injury one week prior to the tournament’s commencement.

Teammates greeted Harit, 25, and several of them shared photos of them together on social media. He now resides with the team at their base in Doha and is receiving treatment from the Moroccan medical team for a knee injury.

Romain Saiss, the captain of Morocco, shared a picture of him and Harit on Instagram with the caption: “finally here… You be healed by God. Also yours is this journey.”

On November 13, only days before he was scheduled to leave for the World Cup, Harit suffered a severe cruciate ligament injury in his left knee while playing for Olympique de Marseille against Monaco in Ligue 1.

“As you can imagine, beyond the physical pain, it’s hard to see the World Cup dream fly by a few hours before being able to live it,” Harit said on Twitter following his injury.
