“Why Nollywood movies are better than Hollywood, others”- Nkem Owoh spills
Veteran actor Nkem Owoh, also known as Osuofia, has praised Nollywood practitioners for their efforts in making Nigerian films fiercely competitive with foreign films.
The stories in Nigerian films are significantly superior to those in their Bollywood and Hollywood equivalents.
He said, “If you check the time and how we started, you give kudos because we are making a tremendous progress in the industry.”
Nkem Owoh also praised Nollywood, saying that as Nigerian movies depict real-life events and incidents, it is incorrect to contrast their production values with those of advanced nations.
“The storyline we take is better than any story from any woods, we don’t have the technology, but we have the story.
“We are a th!rd world country coming up, and people should give us kudos for the level we have attained.”
When discussing technology in Nollywood, he pointed out that Nigerian film makers solely used equipment that was imported from developed nations.
Osuofia claimed that Nollywood had advanced to the next stage of development with the technology now in use.
“I believe, with the stories and creativity among us, if we get the needed technology, we will go places”.
