Goodluck Jonathan: I’d Never Run for President Again; Nigerians Chased Me Out of Aso Rock

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has responded to reports in some quarters that he intends to run for president again.

He stated that, contrary to popular belief, he would not run for president.

This was contained in Nathaniel Bivan’s book, ‘My Time As Chaplain In Aso Rock,’ which was presented to the public on Tuesday.

According to the Daily Post, the book detailed the accounts of the Chaplain of the Aso Rock Villa Chapel during Jonathan’s tenure.

Jonathan explained that he won’t be able to run for president again because he was chased out of Aso Rock.

According to the ex-president, he would be bringing himself low if he chose a nomination form and began lobbying and campaigning again.

Meanwhile, he discussed how he felt when Nomadic Pastoralists and the Almajirai community paid N100 million for the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential nomination form on his behalf.

The former Bayelsa state governor said he enjoyed the drama surrounding the performance because he will never be President again.

Jonathan said; “I was enjoying the drama. At least they are not insulting me. After all, I was pursued out of the office that I was not good enough. So, if now, Nigerians are saying, ‘Oh, this man should come,’ that means they are cleaning me up. So, let me enjoy the drama.

“If you wake up tomorrow and see that I’m President again, that means there may have been circumstances beyond my control. But not to go and pick one form and go and start lobbying people and running for campaigns, be it PDP power or APC broom and moving across Nigeria. I can’t do that again; if I do that, I will diminish myself.”

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari’s performance in office has been praised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Canada Chapter.

Hon. Ifeoma Nwankwo, Secretary, Diaspora Directorate of APC 2023 Presidential Campaign Council PCC, made the claim following All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s interactive session at Chatham House in London.

She stated that Buhari has made commendable achievements that will be built upon if the APC presidential candidate is elected in 2023.

Hon Nwankwo believes that the president has done his best for Nigeria and that it is now time for Tinubu to assume leadership.

She explained; “Government is continuum. Our amiable President, Muhammadu Buhari has made laudable achievements and has done his best for Nigeria. We believe that the incoming President, Tinubu will consolidate and also implement his positive agenda for the growth and development of the country”.
