World Cup

Sterling has resumed England training.

Prior to Saturday’s World Cup quarterfinal against France, Raheem Sterling returned to England‘s training program on Friday after visiting Qatar.

Following a home invasion and return to England, Sterling missed the round of 16 match against Senegal.

The Chelsea forward traveled to Doha on Thursday and returned with the other 24 members of the England team on Friday to play on the field at Al Wakrah Sports Club.

Declan Rice participated in the practice for the second day in a row after missing training on Wednesday owing to sickness, allaying fears about his ability to face Didier Deschamps’ team.

Callum Wilson, a backup striker who has been dealing with a minor muscular strain, was another injury concern but participated in the workout and appeared unharmed.

Sterling is unlikely to start for Gareth Southgate against Manchester United on Saturday, despite his return to camp, but he does provide the manager another attacking option off the bench.

Against Senegal, England started Harry Kane in the typical center striker position, with Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka on the flanks.

Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish are other wide attacking options available to Southgate.

According to British media sources, armed attackers entered into Sterling’s home on Saturday night while his family was inside.

Surrey Police later clarified, however, that nobody was home at the time of the break-in and that no threats of violence were made.

The residents of the home, according to the police, were away on a “international excursion” when they returned to find many pieces of jewelry, including watches, missing.
