American team adds Pulisic while Dutch team sticks with starting lineup

The United States’ starting lineup for Saturday’s last-16 Qatar World Cup match against the Netherlands at the Khalifa International Stadium features key attacker Christian Pulisic.

Josh Sargent, a striker who suffered a right ankle injury in their final group stage match, a victory over Iran on Tuesday, is out because he has not fully recovered.

Jesus Ferreira has taken his place under head coach Gregg Berhalter, and in the defense Cameron Carter-Vickers has been replaced by Walker Zimmerman.

Due to pelvic bruising, Pulisic was forced to leave the game against Iran at halftime, but he was given the all-clear on game day.

The Dutch started with the same lineup that defeated Qatar in their final group game on Tuesday, with playmakers Frenkie de Jong and Cody Gakpo as the attacking tandem and Maarten de Roon playing an enforcer role in the middle of the field.

Teams:

United States: Matt Turner, Sergino Dest, Walker Zimmerman, Tyler Adams (capt.), Antonee Robinson, Yunus Musah, Weston McKennie, Christian Pulisic, Tim Ream, Tim Weah, Jesus Ferreira

Netherlands: Andries Noppert, Daley Blind, Nathan Ake, Virgil van Dijk (capt.), Jurrien Timber, Denzel Dumfries, Marten de Roon, Davy Klaassen, Frenkie de Jong, Cody Gakpo, Memphis Depay.
