Okowa and Atiku withdraw from the presidential town hall meeting

Atiku Abubakar, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, his running mate, have withdrawn from a town hall event planned for those vying to lead Nigeria in 2023.

The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) news announced the development in a tweet on Tuesday.

“Due to unavoidable conflicts, Alh. Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa of the People’s Democratic Party, will not be participating in The Candidates Presidential Town Hall Series,” the tweet read.

The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), News Central, and other organizations are partners in the organization of the presidential town hall series dubbed “The Candidates” by Daria Media.

Earlier this month, Atiku asked Okowa, his running mate, to speak on his behalf at the Presidential Town Hall Series, a program put on by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) and ARISE Television.
