World Cup

Di Maria starts for Argentina, usual suspects on for France

Argentina’s coach Lionel Scaloni chose a 4-3-3 configuration for their World Cup semifinal match against France, and Angel Di Maria will start.

Lionel Messi is positioned on the right flank of the attack, while Angel Di Maria, who has not started since the group stage and only featured for eight minutes in the quarterfinal victory against the Netherlands, is on the left flank (26).

After center backs Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rabiot recovered from the sickness that had prevented them from playing in the semifinal match against Morocco, France coach Didier Deschamps went back to his favoured starting lineup.

After recovering from a virus, Raphael Varane of Manchester United also begins beside Upamecano, and Olivier Giroud of France starts up front with Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele on either side of him.

ARGENTINA: Emiliano Martinez, Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, Nicolas Otamendi, Nicolas Tagliafico, Rodrigo De Paul, Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister, Angel Di Maria, Lionel Messi (captain), Julian Alvarez

FRANCE: Hugo Lloris (captain), Jules Kounde, Raphael Varane, Dayot Upamecano, Theo Hernandez, Antoine Griezmann, Aurelien Tchouameni, Adrien Rabiot, Ousmane Dembele, Olivier Giroud, Kylian Mbappe.
