Aribisogan, the Speaker of the Ekiti Assembly, has been impeached and suspended indefinitely.
Rt Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, has been impeached and suspended indefinitely.
On Monday, during the Assembly’s plenary session, which was attended by 17 members, a new Speaker, Hon Olubunmi Adelugba, was immediately elected as replacement.
This latest action appeared to be the final nail in the coffin of the crisis that had gripped the Ekiti State House of Assembly since last week.
Remember how the trouble began right away? Aribisogan was elected Speaker last week, and there have been undercover attempts to depose him.
Tajudeen Akingbolu, Goke Olajide, Yemisi Ayokunle, Adeyemi Raphael Ajibade, Kemi Balogun, and Tope Ogunleye were the other six members suspended alongside the former Speaker.
Hon. Johnson Oyekola Bode-Adeoye is the new Chairman of Appropriation, while Hon. Lateef Akande is the new Chairman of Business.
