Bandits demand N10 million from the relatives of a deceased victim in exchange for the release of the corpse.

The family of one Obadiah Ibrahim, who was kidnapped and killed in Sabon Gaya, has been ordered to pay a ransom of N10 million before his remains will be freed.

According to the Daily Post, the deceased was kidnapped along the Kaduna-Abuja road in early October.

The victim’s brother, Kefas Obadiah, stated the bandits had already been paid N3 million in ransom, but Ibrahim was still killed.

According to Kefas, his brother was kidnapped in Sabon Gaya village, but after collecting the ransom, the kidnappers refused to release him.

He stated that the N10 million ransom demanded by the robbers is intended as recompense because they stated that they would ‘not labor for free.’

The distraught sibling, who said that the criminals had previously wanted N200 million, said his brother died on Thursday.

Kefas explained; “They later came down to N5 million and 3 motorbikes and later collected one bike. After collecting a bike, we didn’t hear from them again. We tried to communicate with them but unfortunately, we were unable.”

He further stated that when the negotiator called the bandits on Thursday, they (the bandits) informed him that Ibrahim was dead. He claimed that at first they assumed the robbers were joking, but when they persisted, the bandits threatened to trace the caller down and come after him if he did not stop phoning their number.

According to Kefas, the bandits stated that they unloaded their rage on his brother after the cops killed one of their men.
