Basketmouth accuses the EFCC chairman of allowing corrupt politicians to walk freely.

Bright Okpocha, commonly known as Basketmouth, a Nigerian comic actor, has questioned the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, about corrupt politicians who escape free.

In an Instagram post, the stand-up comedian questioned why there is such a low conviction rate for politically exposed people in the country.

This follows protests by youths in Warri, Delta State, and Ibadan, Oyo State, respectively, against the anti-graft agency’s unjustified detention and extortion of young men in the states.

In response to the news, Bawa stated that the exercise will not prevent the EFCC from arresting anyone who encourages or engages in fraud.

Basketmouth, on the other hand, pressed him, asking why the EFCC boss was not arresting corrupt leaders who were bringing economic devastation in Abuja, the commission’s headquarters.

He wrote; “Great! This is awesome news and I support it, but what about the ones that caused economic disaster: They’re walking freely in that same Abuja. Charity begins at home is all I’m saying.”

The comedian also provided photos of previous news stories in which various government officials couldn’t account for the money under their care while still roaming freely.

The first screenshot reads: “NDDC Acting MD, Pondei shuns Reps over alleged misuse of N39b.”
