Burna Boy is the first African artist to reach No. 1 on the Indian music charts.

Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy, a top Nigerian Afrobeats singer, has reached a new milestone on the international music scene.

With “Mera Na bu” by late Indian rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, he made his debut on India’s Music chart. It peaked at number one.

Burna Boy and Steel Banglez, a British music composer and producer, appear on “Mera Na,” which was released posthumously on April 7, 2023.

According to a Twitter stat publishing page, the self-proclaimed African Giant’s achievement makes him the second African and Nigerian artiste, after Rema, to ever appear on the Billboard India Songs chart.

The song also charted at 14 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 and at 102 on the Billboard Global 200 in the United States.
