Young Nigerian Lady bags Bachelor’s degree from university, reject work offers from companies to become a teacher in the village
Adelaja Oluwademilade, a remarkable Nigerian woman, has decided to impact her society as a school teacher despite receiving numerous offers from businesses across Nigeria.
Covenant University in South-West, Nigeria awarded a Bachelor of Arts in English to Adelaja Oluwademilade. She wrote in a LinkedIn post that ever since she graduated, she had always wanted to be a teacher.
“When I graduated from Covenant University last year, I was certain that I wanted to work as a teacher, but peer pressure from seeing my colleagues and classmates working in large offices caused me to be reluctant to enter the field. Before I became a teacher, I wanted to work in an office,” she stated.
She admitted that despite receiving multiple job offers after applying for several positions, none of them were satisfying. Finally, she accepted a position as a teacher in a rural section of Lagos, Nigeria.
“I finally took up a teaching role in a rural area in Lagos. It was one of the easiest decisions I ever made in my life. My mum suggested some private schools that would be willing to pay me to teach but I refused to work there,” she narrated.
” I always wanted to work in a place where I would feel happy and fulfilled everyday and that’s exactly how I feel right now. My experience as a teacher so far has been amazing. Teaching is my service to God and Humanity and I don’t take it for granted,” she added.
