The convoy of former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar was attacked in Borno State.

According to the Daily Trust, the attack occurred on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in Maiduguri, the state capital.

A video circulating on social media shows a group of individuals scattering in different directions as gunshots rang out.

This comes only hours after the PDP’s presidential campaign route arrived in Borno, a state controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dino Malaye, a former lawmaker and spokesman for the Atiku Campaign, accused the ruling APC of being behind the Borno attack.

More than 70 individuals were hospitalized, according to Melaye.

He said; “They wanted to prevent us from doing holding the campaign, as we speak, 74 people were injured and hospitalised.

“Several vehicles were vandalised by APC thugs.”

The APC had not to respond to Melaye’s accusation as of press time.

Meanwhile, hundreds of suspected political thugs were observed at strategic spots along the Maiduguri/Kano expressway, according to sources.
