Determined Young man achieves his childhood dream of becoming a pilot after 11 years, celebrates achievement
Delante Sykes, a driven young American who spent 11 years of his life learning to become a pilot, has once again shown the world that dreams do come true.
Delante Skyes has wanted to be a pilot ever since he was a young child. He posted pictures of himself when he was around 2 years old and was seen attempting to fly an airplane. Delante enlisted to study the skill and has been following his love ever since.
After graduating from Ashbrook High School in Gastonia, North Carolina in 2017, he enrolled right away at the University of North Dakota in the United States to study aviation. Delante Skyes anticipated taking to the skies after she received her Bachelor’s degree in aviation management in 2020 and a 3.73 GPA.
He attended the University of North Dakota from 2020 to 2022 to receive his pilot training before becoming a stage check pilot. Delante Skyes was chosen by American Airlines in the first round of the airline draft shortly after finishing his requirements at the university.
His Father, Valentino Skyes shared his proud dad moment on Facebook. “Proud Dad Moment Alert. My son was selected in the 1st round of the airline draft by American Airlines. He was drafted as an First Officer. Last week he took to the skies flying passengers around the country. Congrats First Officer Delante ”The Durag Pilot” Sykes,” Valentino wrote on Facebook.
