Young African mathematician bags PhD degree at 25 years old, sets record

Abdulzeid Yen Anafo, a gifted and young African mathematician, broke a record when he graduated with a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Mines and Technology in Tarkwa, Ghana, at the age of 25.

Abdulzeid, then 20 years old, completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Development Studies (UDS), Ghana, and received a degree in pure mathematics.

On Linkedin, Abdulzeid posts a picture of his accomplishment and expresses his gratitude to God and the professors who oversaw his research during his academic career.

Abdulzeid obtained his Master’s degree at the esteemed African Institute for Mathematical Sciences before enrolling in the Ph.D. program at the University of Mines and Technology (AIMS).

The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences is a mathematic sciences-focused research institution with offices in Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Tanzania, and Rwanda in addition to its home country of South Africa.
