Ghana: Nana Agradaa was charged with new offenses and imprisoned for two weeks.
An Accra Circuit Court has issued new charges against Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa.
She pleaded not guilty to new charges in front of Her Honour Mrs Evelyn Asamoah and was remanded into lawful custody for the next two weeks.
The most recent charges, which are similar to those she is facing in another circuit court, involved multiple complainants.
She is charged with seven counts of defrauding by false pretense and using charlatanic advertisements on television and in newspapers to entice her victims.
Since her arrest for alleged money doubling, the self-proclaimed evangelist has been detained by police.
Nana Agradaa was arrested after some members of the public accused her of running a money-doubling scam.
This follows a social media viral video of victims recounting their losses.
According to a police statement:
“Anyone who is a victim of the alleged money doubling scam should report to the Accra Regional Police Command for further action to assist the investigation.”
The investigation was initiated following reports that have come to the attention of the Police on the matter.”
The statement added: “We would like to urge anyone with information that can assist the investigation to report to the Accra Regional Police Command at Accra Central close to the COCOBOD building.”
Some of the victims claim they went to Nana Agradaa’s church because she advertised on her TV show that she would be doubling money during Friday’s all-night service.
