Nigeria: “The media wants me to say Pete Edochie is my biological father,” actor Kingsley Abasili says.
Kingsley Abasili, a Nollywood actor who has drawn a lot of attention due to his striking resemblance to Pete Edochie, has taken to his social media handle to respond to “curious journalists” who claim that Nollywood legend is his father.
Kingsley stated on Twitter that he had been approached by media outlets who asked him to falsely claim that Pete Edochie is his biological father as a criterion for becoming famous.
According to him, the media houses offered him the deal as a condition for him to advance in the industry, but he turned it down because he adores Pete Edochie.
Abasili posted on his social media handle:
“FOR THOSE COMING TO MY INBOX TO MOCK ME, I’M NOT POPULAR BECAUSE I REFUSED TO BE. MEDIA HOUSES APPROACHED ME ASKING ME TO DECLARE PETE EDOCHIE MY BIOLOGICAL FATHER BUT I REFUSED.
THAT WAS THE CONDITION I WAS GIVEN TO BECOME FAMOUS BUT I SEE NO REASON TO DO SUCH.”
He made this shocking admission two years after photos of him and Pete Edochie went viral.
Though Pete Edochie has not made any public comments about his relationship with the Nollywood actor, many have speculated that they could be more than just a lookalike.
