Young African Lady whose lecturer said she will not make it to US university defeats prophesy, bags Masters degree
Elizabeth Laiza Kalu, a young woman from Africa, has defied the prediction of one of her college professors who declared she would not succeed in attending a university in the United States of America (USA).
Elizabeth Laiza Kalu, who recently earned a master’s degree from New York University (NYU), New York, USA, recalled how one of her professors at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts, predicted that she would never be accepted to a prestigious university like NYU or Columbia University when she was a student there.
She had requested a recommendation letter from her lecturer, but was informed she would never be accepted to the institution. Elizabeth received her Master’s in Public Administration from New York University (NYU) a few years after the instructor made the remark.
Elizabeth posted about her accomplishment on social media, noting that she was aware that her lecturer was projecting her own fears onto her and that she hadn’t anticipated a young black girl to have such aspirations.
“Now I clearly understand that she was projecting her own insecurities on me and she didn’t expect a young black girl to have such ambitions. Thankfully, I know my identity in Christ is bigger than any degree and I’m fully backed by a God that can be trusted,” Elizabeth said.
