Thelma Jones, a remarkable 90-year-old resident of Southfield, Michigan, has distinguished herself academically by attaining a fifth-degree black belt in Isshinryu karate despite her advanced age.

Since she was 40 years old, Thelma Jones has started studying karate combat techniques. She celebrated her 90th birthday by receiving her fifth-degree black belt, and she intends to advance in her profession.

She claims that she has successfully defended herself from criminals by using her skills. She was a tough woman, according to grandmaster Willie Adams, her trainer.

“You mention Miss Jones, and they go, ‘Oh I know Miss Jones, she’s tough,’” grandmaster Willie Adams said.

Grandmaster Adams, a 77-year-old black belt of the 10th degree, has been practicing for many years. In the Southfield Martial Arts Institute in Michigan, the United States, he works out Jones three times every week.

His training has helped Thelma Jones develop her Karate skills. “It really does teach you to listen, behind you, in front, and be aware of all things,” Jones said.
