Rwanda: The husband of a former aspiring Kiambu Women Rep has been discovered murdered.
A 58-year-old engineer was murdered under mysterious circumstances.
The body of George Mwangi Kamau was discovered in Kieni Forest, near Kamunyaka village, on the Thika-Magumu highway.
Mwangi worked for Double M International and Preyan Enterprises in Kigali, Rwanda.
Police believe the man was murdered elsewhere and then dumped near the wildlife-infested forest. The body was wrapped in black polythene and placed in a bag, which oozed blood.
Mwangi went missing on October 9th.
He is the husband of Gladys Chania, a Kiambu-based politician who ran unsuccessfully for the Kiambu Woman Representative seat on a Jubilee Party ticket in the last General Election.
Chania also lost the Woman Rep seat in 2017 to current Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba.
According to police, Chania identified Mwangi at the morgue days after reporting him missing. On Monday and Tuesday, she reported the incident at the Mwea and Gachege police stations in Gatundu North, respectively.
“Mwangi’s body was taken to General Kago Mortuary in Thika,” police said. By last evening, police had arrested one person, a woman who is helping them with investigations.
