Young African woman receives a first-class biochemistry degree and a PhD fellowship to the University of Cambridge.
After receiving an extraordinary first-class degree in Nigeria, Paula-Peace James-Okoro, a remarkable Nigerian woman, was awarded the renowned Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue a PhD in Clinical Biochemistry.
Paula-Peace graduated first in her class from Covenant University in Nigeria with a 4.98 grade point average out of a potential 5.00 grade point, earning a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology.
Following completion of her undergraduate studies, Paula-Peace applied for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship, which is given to deserving candidates from outside the UK in order to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any field offered by the University of Cambridge.
The 2022 Gates Cambridge is presently under construction and is scheduled to end on January 3, 2023. To apply for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship before it closes.
Paula-Peace posted a LinkedIn celebration of her success. I’m so happy to announce that I’ve just started a fully financed PhD program in clinical biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, she stated. I received a Doctoral Training Programme in Medical Research (DTP-MR) as well as the esteemed Gates Cambridge Scholarship, which is bizarre.
She noted that her journey to become a scholar has not been an easy one. “There were moments when it felt like it was impossible to get here – uncertainties, sleepless nights, and emotions. Eventually, all of the hard work paid off even better than I could have imagined,” she explained.
