14-year-old boy graduates from high school and college on the same day, set to earn PhD in Chemical Engineering

McKenzie Mathew, a talented 14-year-old boy, graduated from high school and college on the same day, which is an extraordinary feat in the United States.

In addition to finishing his high school coursework, Matthew McKenzie received an Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Chattahoochee Technical College in Georgia.

The young genius received his high school diploma on the same day that he graduated from Chattahoochee Technical College with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, much to the delight of everyone, especially his parents.

Matthew McKenzie began reading challenging novels at the age of four and then enrolled in college when he was eleven. His accelerated academic progress is the result of a rigorous homeschooling curriculum that he started in the second grade.

“We would pull material from different textbooks and custom create his curriculum,” his mother, Monique McCord, narrated.

Monique McCord also narrated that at the time Matthew started college, she walks him to class so as to ensure he adapts with the new environment. “I started off walking him to class and then the environment got a little more comfortable, then he started walking himself, so he eased into the transition,” she said.

Speaking about his remarkable achievement, Matthew McKenzie stated that he now intends to work as a cosmetic chemist. He also hopes to study biochemistry at Kennesaw State University before transferring to Georgia Tech to pursue his master’s and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering.
