In the 2022 World University Ranking, the university was named the top university in Ghana, the best in West Africa, the fourth best university in Africa, and the best university internationally for research influence.
The annual Times Higher Education World University Rankings is the most prominent global ranking, aiming to present the ultimate list of the finest institutions based on five important areas of evaluation: teaching, research, citations, international orientation, and industry income.
This year’s rating examined over 121 million citations from over 15.5 million academic articles, as well as survey answers from 40,000 experts worldwide. We collected over 680,000 data points from over 2,500 institutions that provided data in total.
The World University Rankings 2023 include 1,799 universities from 104 nations and regions, making it the most comprehensive and diversified university ranking ever.
With 177 institutions, the United States is the most represented country overall, as well as the most represented in the top 200. (58).
Mainland China now has the fourth-most institutions in the top 200 (11, up from 10) and has surpassed Australia, which has slid to fifth (joint with the Netherlands).
