Brilliant Nigerian man with 4.9 CGPA fights back after being rejected by US university, wins scholarship to study Engineering in 8 top schools
Adewale Babatunde, a smart Nigerian, battled defeat after being turned down by two prestigious US institutions despite having a strong undergraduate record in his home country.
Adewale Babatunde earned a stellar 4.90 out of a possible 5.00 grade points from the Petroleum and Gas Engineering Department at the University of Lagos, South-West, Nigeria, giving him a grade of 98%.
Adewale Babatunde applied for scholarships in the United States following his stellar success in his undergraduate studies, but was turned down by two of the country’s finest graduate schools in renewable energy.
Adewale battled against failure and tried to advance his education in a profession that matches his experience in Petroleum Engineering because of his extremely successful ancestry. He made the decision to work harder to get into more graduate programs at various American colleges.
“It was not an easy decision, and I struggled to make it look natural to well-meaning folks. On the surface, it seemed that I was vainly betting on the chance that I would get into the same graduate programs that I was earlier rejected from,” he narrated on LinkedIn.
