Brilliant Nigerian Lady beats over 51,840 applicants to win UK and Ireland Scholarships at the same time
Oluwafunmilayo Oni, a smart Nigerian woman, knocked out 51840 other applications to become one of the 2% applicants selected to get the Chevening Scholarship from the United Kingdom.
With a second-class lower Bachelor’s degree diploma, Oluwafunmilayo not only got the UK Government Chevening Scholarship Award, but she also received the Irish Government Scholarship at the same time.
Oluwafunmilayo took to her LinkedIn handle to celebrate her achievement noting that she once doubted her ability to win any scholarship due to her Bachelor’s degree grade. “For years, I doubted my ability to bag any scholarship for my Master’s degree because many scholarships granting organizations often stated clearly that they would rather a minimum of 2:1 (second-class upper),” she wrote on LinkedIn.
She recounted a time when she sought for a scholarship and was informed that although her leadership experience was great and excellent, the grade she received for her Bachelor’s degree prevented her from meeting the academic requirements.
She persisted with her applications nonetheless, determined to have an impact on the world. She finally received two scholarships on the same day after multiple failed attempts.
